Seven more car break-ins reported

Seven more car break-ins were reported to the State College Police Department by Wednesday afternoon in addition to the 15 that occurred between Saturday night and Monday, police said.

Four of the seven new reports came from break-ins that occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, police said. The three other new reports occurred earlier, police said.

Some of the most recent car break-ins occurred in the Harris Acresneighborhood, while other break-ins occurred in the Dalevue and Greentree neighborhoods, police said.

Police said they see increased sprees of car break-ins like this every once in a while and hope that community tips and their investigation will lead to catching the responsible individual or individuals.

Police previously said that the vehicles were unlocked and stolen items included tools, cash, change, wallets and CDs.

Included in the list of new incidents, police are investigating a report of a garage that was broken into in one of the same neighborhoods at 1100 Greenbriar Dr., police said.

At about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, the garage was entered and four bottles of champagne were stolen, police said. A vehicle in the garage was also entered, but nothing was taken from the vehicle.

Police are asking residents to report any suspicious vehicles or people that might be in connection with the break-ins to the State College Police Department at 814-234-7150.
