The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for State College and the surrounding areas.
At 11:22 a.m., a statement was released warning residents to expect “a slushy 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet.”
The wintry mix will begin in the early afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, and continue to fall into the night and may switch over to rain for a time.
Winds are expected to come from the east at 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching 40 mph, the advisory said.
The National Weather Service warned that the weather might make travel difficult and cause possible power outages in isolated areas. It also advised to take precautionary actions.
Residents are encouraged to report any snow or ice accumulation to the State College National Weather Service by emailing ctp.stormreports@noaa.gov or posting on its Facebook and Twitter pages.
