Just let State Patty's Day be in future

If your going to bribe bars to close State Patty’s Day — a heavy drinking weekend for Penn State students — then why not close it for Saint Patrick’s Day?

Yet, even better why not bribe the bars to close on every home football weekend or even bribe them to close on New Year’s Eve?

Better yet, bribe them to close the entire entire weekend as students who are celebrating State Patty’s Day don’t just celebrate it on Saturday.

Bribe the bars to close all weekend and see how many establishments will go for a loss of revenue for a whole weekend. State Patty’s Day used to mean something to the students, other than just becoming belligerent.

When it was first started it was a way to celebrate when Saint Patrick’s Day was scheduled over spring break.

I do agree that it has gotten out of hand and all this wish wash of bribing bars to stay closed is just perpetuating the student holiday.

If everyone was to just stop making this weekend to be such a big deal, I believe that it will just run its course and eventually just go away.
