The State College Police Department is investigating a rape that was reported to Mount Nittany Medical Center Saturday, police said.
Police said the rape was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday from the hospital, but it occurred at some earlier time. Police could not confirm when or where the rape occurred. Police could also not confirm the gender of the individuals involved.
Police said they could not release any further information because it is an open investigation.
Since Aug. 27, 2012, local police have fielded 21 separate reports of sexual assault and one report of a potential sexual assault from Dec. 16, in which the woman who reported the assault could not remember whether it was sexual in nature.
