Penn State football player Akeel Lynch, a freshman running back, was charged Friday with criminal mischief for an incident that occurred in a residence hall on campus on Nov. 16, 2012, Penn State Police said.
Lynch, 18, of Toronto, Canada, is charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief after kicking a window located on the ground floor lobby of Shulze Hall, breaking it, police said.
The cost of the broken window and the cost for the labor to fix it totaled about $900, police said.
A preliminary hearing for Lynch has been scheduled for March 27 at 8:30 a.m. at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
A request for comment from Assistant Athletic Director of Communications Jeff Nelson was not immediately returned Monday.
Lynch, who did not play this past football season, was a three-star recruit, according to Rivals.com, and a member of the 2012 recruiting class.
