At about 1:15 p.m. today, power went out in areas around Centre County, including downtown State College., Tom Kerney, area manager for West Penn Power, said. Power was almost completely restored to everyone by 2:55 p.m., Kerney said.
3,800 people were affected by the power outage in all of Centre County, Kerney said.
Kerney said the cause of the power outage is still unknown and that crews were still on site at around 3:15 p.m. Kerney said although there were problems at the substation on S. Atherton St, it does not mean the power outage was caused by that substation.
