Focus should be on cases, not on the Paterno family's pain

From distant Canada, I have followed the saga since November 2011, and can say only that the ongoing emphasis on defending Joe Paterno is misplaced.

There is a proven case of Jerry Sandusky’s guilt in child abuse over many years. Anything that detracts from that focus, however painful it may be for the family of Paterno, is irrelevant. And as for who knew what, the focus should be on the living, not the dead. Three living men have been charged and their cases are before the courts.
