Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred early Tuesday morning along Interstate 99, about a mile south of the Innovation Park exit, Trooper Jeff Petucci said.
A 32-year-old female, of Bellefonte, was struck fatally while walking along the highway sometime between 3:45 a.m. and 4 a.m. Tuesday, Petucci said. At this time, Petucci said police could not release her name.
Petucci said there is no indication that the female was walking because her car broke down somewhere along the side of the road.
Currently, police are working to recreate the scene of the crash, as well as locate the vehicle and the driver who hit the female, as the person is still unknown and at large, Petucci said.
