Man charged in connection with indecent assault

A man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that occurred Jan. 26 on campus, according to court documents filed Jan. 30.

Matthew Runyon, 28, of Downingtown, is charged with indecent assault, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with an incident in which a female student reported the sexual assault near the HUB-Robeson Center, police said.

Police said Runyon followed the female on Pollock Road and onto Shortlidge Road after she left the HUB at about 1 a.m. Jan. 26.

The female was on the phone when she heard Runyon follow her and say, “You are OK with me,” police said.

Police also said that when Runyon was following her, the female asked where he was going and Runyon said, “I’m going wherever you go.”

When the woman told him that she would not go with him, Runyon grabbed her buttocks, police said. The woman pushed Runyon and yelled at him to leave, police said. Runyon also asked her to follow him to the HUB Parking Deck, but the woman ran across Shortlidge Road into a residence hall, police said.

The female later identified the man in a photo line-up, police said.

Runyon is scheduled to appear at formal arraignment March 6 at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, according to court documents.
