Police are searching for a man who they believe to be involved in a robbery and a separate burglary this morning, according to a press release issued by the State College Police Department.
The robbery occurred at the Super 8 Motel, 1663 S. Atherton St., where the man approached an employee at the front desk, claiming one of the vending machines was damaged, police said. When the employee went to check on the vending machine, the man went behind the desk and took money, police said.
When confronted by the employee, the man said he had a gun and then ran toward Atherton Street, police said.
Police said the man was a white male wearing black boots, jeans, a gray jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt under the jacket pulled up over his head and a light colored faded baseball hat. He was last identified in the area of the Ramada, 1450 S. Atherton St., south parking lot, police said.
Police said they believe the man was also involved in a burglary at the Gunn Mowery Insurance and Benchmark Construction, 1500 S. Atherton St., earlier this morning. In the burglary, someone had entered the office building and removed several items, police said.
Anyone with information on the robbery and burglary or anyone who can identify the man believed to be involved is asked to call the State College Police Department at 814-234-7150.
