Eight charged with furnishing in relation to fallen cheerleader case

Eight students were charged with furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors Tuesday in relation to an incident involving a 19-year-old Penn State cheerleader falling 39 feet from a Calder Commons apartment window on Oct. 13, according to a press release issued by the State College Police Department.

Tempest Hourston, 21, Megan Markovitz, 21, Adaire Robinson, 21, Alexandria Hipple, 20, Brooke Piccione, 20, Alyssa Duffy, 19, Julie Hannan, 19, and Madeline Miller, 19, all had charges filed against them for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors, according to the release. The criminal complaints were filed through Magisterial District Judge Carmine Prestia, according to the release.

Police began investigating in November whether Raque was served alcohol the night of the fall, according to court documents. Police were granted a warrant to examine Raque's blood alcohol content test results the night she was treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center for head trauma, among other injuries, according to court documents.

Last week, some members of the Penn State cheerleading team were removed from the team for violating team rules, although it is unclear how many team members were removed or if it was in relation to the incident involving Raque, according to Penn State officials.

Preliminary hearings for each person are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, according to court documents.
