Student activity fee board to discuss CCSG's funding request

Penn State University Park’s Student Activity Fee board will meet today in the HUB-Robeson Center to discuss the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments’ request for SAF funding.

The decision made by the SAF board will serve as a recommendation to Vice President of Student Affairs Damon Sims, University Park Undergraduate Association’s Chair of the Assembly Spencer Malloy said.

In 2009, it was written into the Student Activity Fee handbook that the Commonwealth Campuses would fund the organization. Currently, however, CCSG only receives minimal funding through allocations from the main administration, Malloy (senior-agroecology and philosophy) said.

On Jan. 16, UPUA’s General Assembly voted to deny support for CCSG’s funding request, according to Resolution No. 18-07. As such, UPUA’s SAF board representatives, President Courtney Lennartz (senior-health policy and administration) and Malloy, will not vote to support SAF funding for CCSG when the board convenes.

This meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. today in 111 HUB and will be open to the public.
