Shuffle.Play.Listen. brings variety to Schwab Auditorium

Applause filled Schwab Auditorium on Friday night as pianist Christopher O’Riley and cellist Matt Haimovitz took final bows for their performance called Shuffle.Play.Listen.

The duo played a variety of music, most of which can be found on its double-disc album by the same name. Artists included John McLaughlin, Bernard Herrmann, Arcade Fire and Radiohead.

The performance lasted about two hours long with a brief intermission between the two sets. During the intermission, O’Riley and Haimovitz took the time to sign autographs for fans, who lined up out the door for a chance to meet the two.

“Thank you for trusting us with tonight’s menu,” O’Riley joked with the audience when he took the stage.

There were no programs for the concert, giving the duo the freedom to change and rearrange the set as needed. No matter what O’Riley and Haimovitz performed, it was met with a positive, enthusiastic applause from the audience.
