Community needs more information about attack on bike path

The Penn State University Police should be ashamed of its handling of the attack on the bike path north of campus last week. Since taking over authority to investigate that crime, in which a female graduate student was left lying on the path with a knife cut to her throat, the police department has failed to release a sketch of the attacker, it has failed to release any further details about the attacker’s identity, and it has failed to release any further details about the attack itself.

To make matters worse, the police department does not even list this incident on its website; the most recent “crime alert” is a November theft of computer equipment from Thomas Building. This is not Homeland. Our community needs details of the investigation, however sparse, on the off chance that someone can help identify the attacker or help solve this heinous crime.
