A firefighter works to put out a trailer home fire on North Atherton Street on Thurday night. A couple and a young child escaped safely according to the Alpha Fire Company Chief on scene.

Mobile home catches fire, nobody harmed

A fire erupted at about 8 p.m. Thursday in a mobile home near North Atherton Street close to Hi Way Pizza, local fire officials said.

Alpha Fire Company Chief Keith Yocum said a couple and a young child who were in the mobile home escaped the blaze and were unharmed. The names of the people who resided in the mobile home were not released.

At about 8:30 p.m., Yocum had yet to speak with the couple, but at that point, the fire was under control.

A fire marshal was on scene Thursday night inspecting the trailer, but the cause of the fire was not determined by press time Thursday.
Four firetrucks responded to the scene and eliminated the fire after about 10 minutes, Yocum said.

After putting out the fire, Yocum said the firefighters were performing “overhaul” by putting out the rest of the hot spots and checking the structure.

“The trailer’s a total loss,” Yocum said, referring to the damages to the structure.

There were no damages to surrounding homes, he said. There also appeared to be no damage to Hi Way Pizza.
