First, you have to go back to when Mike McQueary was a graduate assistant. He called Coach Joe Paterno and the first words out of Paterno’s mouth were “if you’re calling about a job again, I already told you I don’t have any spot for you.” Then he tells Paterno and then Athletic Director Tim Curley and Senior Vice President for finance and business Gary Schultz about seeing Jerry Sandusky with a young boy, and the thing you know, he gets a low-level job on the team. As the years went by, he miraculously moved up the ladder and got higher-paying jobs.
Then you have a new coach hired, and he is allowed to keep any assistant coach he wants or change the entire staff — that is when McQueary was let go. In my opinion, both McQueary and Jay Paterno were the worst assistant coaches to ever take the sidelines. He deserved to be let go.
