Penn State community should not be punished

I applaud Gov. Corbett’s lawsuit against the NCAA regarding sanctions on Penn State. I feel very ashamed that one of our Penn State alumni was convicted of abusing young children. I believe that we should protect our children. I also believe in personal responsibility. The individual responsible for the evil actions against these children is being punished by the criminal courts.

The handful of men who were charged with failing to report suspected abuse will have their due process in court soon. The punishment for these evil actions against young children belongs with the criminal and civil courts, not with the NCAA.

The NCAA sanctions are punitive. As an example, the vacating of football victories during the 1998 through 2011 seasons has the stench of longstanding jealousy of the legitimate accomplishments of the Penn State football players and coaches. Why should the entire Penn State family and surrounding community be punished for the evil actions of a few individuals?
