Penn State Police investigating on-campus sexual assault

Penn State Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on campus early Wednesday morning, according to a press release issued via Penn State Live.

The assault occurred in a residence hall between two Penn State students who previously knew each other, according to the release.

No additional information was available as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at 814-863-1111 or Centre County CrimeStoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME. Callers may remain anonymous or may visit the Penn State University Police Silent Witness website at http://www.police.psu.edu/witness/. Those providing information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 from Centre County CrimeStoppers.

Since Aug. 27, local police have fielded 16 reports of sexual assault and one report of a potential sexual assault earlier this week.
