Owner of Dragon Chasers charged with drug offenses

The owner of the State College store that was raided last February for suspected sale of synthetic substances is charged with numerous drug offenses, according to court documents.

John B. O’Keefe, 48, of Frackville, the owner of Dragon Chasers Emporium, formerly located at 115 S. Fraser St., is charged with 44 counts of corrupt organizations, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy. Court documents detailing the charges show O’Keefe was charged Dec. 4.

Pennsylvania State Police conducted multiple controlled searches of Dragon Chasers for synthetic marijuana and other synthetic substances between August 2011 and February 2012, police said. Police seized synthetic controlled substances as well as drug paraphernalia and cash, police said.

Police also seized $616,982 from the State College bank where O’Keefe kept the revenue earned at Dragon Chasers. Police also seized $1,686,903 from other banks in Berks County and Schuylkill County where O’Keefe also had money from his other stores in those counties, police said.

Police also conducted searches of Jamaica Junction, 111 S. Pugh St., and Grasshopper Gift Shop, 322 E. College Ave., for suspected sale of synthetic marijuana and synthetic bath salts last February, as previously reported.

The sales of synthetic bath salts and synthetic marijuana were banned in Centre County in April 2011, as previously reported.
