SPA brings John Legend, Mike Eruzione to Penn State

“Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing,” because Student Programming Association made announcements this morning in regards to bringing legendary R&B crooner John Legend and Olympian Hockey player Mike Eruzione to Penn State next semester as part of its Distinguished Speaker Series.

According to SPA’s press release, singer John Legend will speak at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 at Eisenhower Auditorium. Topics of discussion will include his involvement in various philanthropies, including Teach for America and his own non-profit organization, “Show Me Campaign,” which fights poverty around the world.

After his speech, the nine-time Grammy Award winner Legend, who is known for his soulful vocals, lyrics, and beautiful piano skills in songs like, “Ordinary People” and “Save Room” will give a performance.

Tickets for students are free with a valid Penn State ID and will be distributed starting Tuesday, Jan. 8.  Tickets for the general public will be distributed for free based on availability on Jan. 11.

Hockey players, fanatics and those who watched the Disney movie “Mircacle,” starring Kurt Russell, might be familiar with Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 Olympic Hockey team who will speak at Eisenhower Auditorium on Wednesday Apr. 10.

Eruzione and his team are known worldwide for beating the odds to win the Gold Metal at the Games in Lake Placid, NY in the final round against the Soviet Union.

Since winning the medal, Eruzione has gone on to be a commentator for the Olympic games for networks like ABC and CBS and promoted the American hockey team.

Tickets for students are free with a valid Penn State ID and will be distributed starting March 27.  Tickets for the general public will be distributed for free based on availability Apr. 3.

Tickets for both events will be distributed at the Bryce Jordan Center Ticketing Office, HUB Information Desk, Eisenhower Auditorium and Penn State Ticket Office Downtown.
