'Hit-and-run' trusteeship is not a real option for us

Penn State now has the dubious distinction of being a university whose alumni and students boo its president at halftime in his own football stadium.

It also has become more known that many of our alumni hold the Board of Trustees in open contempt.

And I think this contempt is well-deserved.

Penn State’s trustees have repeatedly expressed their desire to “move forward” from the events of last year.

Just like many drunk hit-and-run drivers want similarly to avoid responsibility for the physical and human wreckage that his or her reckless and irresponsible actions have caused.

Trustees’ hit-and-run stewardship is simply not a viable option.

I think that resignation is their only alternative.
