Correction appended: Nov. 16, 2012.
The Tavern Association has not made a formal decision regarding the closures of bars on State Patty’s Day this year.
Last year, bars closed early in preparation for the student-made holiday as an attempt to prevent excessive drinking.
Though UPUA President Courtney Lennartz Lennartz said at the UPUA general assembly meeting Wednesday that a decision was made not to close bars, Tavern Association President Jennifer Zangrilli said an official decision has not been made for State Patty's Day 2013.
A State Patty's Day Task Force was created last year to reduce crimes over the weekend. One of their efforts was to close bars early.
Bars that closed last State Patty’s Day included Indigo, Chumley’s, Zeno’s To Go, The Saloon, Bar Bleu, The Hopshop Beer Market, The Shandygaff, Lion’s Den and Level’s Nightclub.

Though University Park Undergraduate Association President Courtney Lennartz said at Wednesday’s UPUA meeting that the Tavern Association decided to stay open during the event this year, Tavern Association President Jennifer Zangrilli said the Tavern Association has not met since February and has not made a formal decision regarding next year’s State Patty’s Day.
