Advertisement is too negative

In the Oct. 31 of The Daily Collegian, an advertisement by “National Review,” a conservative news magazine, took over all of page seven.

It sarcastically congratulated Michael Mann, a climate scientist here at Penn State, for winning a Nobel Peace Prize for his research on climate change. It is clear that the magazine was simply expressing its not-so-hidden agenda to share its anti-climate change views.

Just recently, the magazine compared the Jerry Sandusky scandal to Mann’s investigation of falsifying data to fit his climate models. This was not in good taste. Mann was exonerated from these allegations in 2010, but some continue to bash his work. It is ridiculous for the Collegian to have allowed this advertisement to be printed when, in my opinion, National Review clearly intended to continue to shine Penn State in a negative light.
