Director of Centre County Airport Authority James Meyer said that United Airlines and US Airways have canceled all flights in and out of the University Park Airport. He said that only Delta Air Lines’ flights are still on schedule.
Of the three scheduled flights to Detroit, two have already gone out, one has returned, and another is scheduled to come in around 4:30 with no delays or cancellations, Meyers said
In the State College Borough, free parking will be provided from 1 p.m. today to Wednesday morning in garages on Beaver Avenue, Fraser and Pugh Streets, according to a release issued by the State College Borough.
No over-night street parking will be allowed until further notice, according to the release.
The State College Borough Public Works Department will also have full crews on staff during the entire storm.They will be focusing on keeping roads clear of debris and branches and will resume regular collection of leaves as weather permits, according to the release.
Refuse collection has been rescheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday and bulk trash collection has been cancelled for Wednesday, according to the release.
Additionally, the Red Cross has opened a shelter at Bald Eagle Area High School, 751 S. Eagle Valley Road,in Wingate, Red Cross Communications Manager Kathy Smyser said.
The shelters will provide a dry place to sleep and food, as well as people in the same boat who can talk about what it feels like to be displaced, Smyser said. She said the shelter will be staying open as long as the County’s Emergency Management Group determine that they need it.
Smyser said that the Red Cross has a Safe and Well website and application on which people can enter their name, cell phone, address and send updates to friends and family who have their information to notify them that they are safe.
