Students are making a poor showing at football games

On Oct. 4, on the radio, I heard Coach Bill O’Brien say he wanted more students to show their faces at the games.

Not only are they coming in late, but it looks to me like less students are using their tickets.

When I was a student there from the 2005 to 2008 seasons, it was unheard of for students to not come to games.

If you weren’t standing outside of Gate A at least an hour before the games, you were considered late — and sometimes that still wasn’t early enough to get a good spot.

Our team needs the support of the student body now more than ever, so I hope they heard Coach’s O’Brien’s plea and will fill the stands to capacity. I remember the saying on a shirt when I was a student that read: “come early, be loud, stay late,” this couldn’t be more true and necessary this season.

And to the students who may read this: I would die to be in your shoes right now so don’t waste this wonderful opportunity.

Also, we don’t want to turn into Pitt’s fan attendance numbers, do we?
