Penn State defeats Northwestern 39-28

Matt McGloin has Northwestern's number.

The fifth-year senior marched Penn State on a game-winning drive to lead Penn State to an eventual 39-28 victory over No. 24 Northwestern on Saturday. The quarterback scored the deciding touchdown on a four-yard run. Fullback Michael Zordich scored a touchdown with 1:30 left to make it a two-possession game.

McGloin improves to 3-0 in his career against the Wildcats while Penn State is now 2-0 in the Big Ten this season.

Penn State entered the final quarter trailing by 11, but McGloin found Allen Robinson in the endzone on a fourth-down play, then the team converted a two-point conversion to make it a three-point game.

The Lions' defense rose to the occasion in the fourth quarter. Penn State forced a three-and-out in between the team's two touchdowns, before stopping the Wildcats on a fourth-and-seven with 1:48 remaining.

Zach Zwinak ran for more than 100 yards for the second week in a row and McGloin threw for nearly 282 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Penn State has now won four straight games and the team is idle next weekend.
