Still a Pirates fan and still OK with the season they had, one of the greatest

Having read Monday’s piece “Pirates fan on the losing side” by a Pirates “fan,” I was upset to see how loose that term can be used.

First, to watch 20 games in a season of 162 doesn’t show any real loyalty to the team — watching two out of sixteen Steelers games is a sin in Pittsburgh. Admittedly, the disappointment of this season is tough to swallow, but it was the greatest Pirates season I have ever seen. From the development of young stars like Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez, to the “Mark of the Zoltan, even the near benches clearing a brawl in Cincinnati, this was a great season for the Bucs, and I look forward to next season.
