Penn State alerted University Park students about a suspicious package near Beaver Stadium at about 1:30 Monday afternoon via PSUTXT, according to Penn State University Relations.
The package — which was found unattended at Gate E at Beaver Stadium — is currently being investigated by both Penn State Police and a Haz Mat team, said Penn State University spokesman Reidar Jensen. Students are asked to avoid the area until an “all clear” is given by the university, Jensen said.
Another text will be issued by PSUTXT and on the Twitter feed — @psutxt — as soon as the university has more information, he said.
Jensen said these type of things happen from time to time, but the university wants to ensure safety for its students and therefore, is handling the situation accordingly.
