The search for a new executive vice president and provost is set to begin "over the next several months," according to a Penn State Live release Friday.
Since November, Robert Pangborn has held the title on an interim basis. Penn State President Rodney Erickson held the position prior to Pangborn. Responsibilities of executive vice president and provost include being the university's chief academic officer, reporting directly to the university president and acting as university president when the acting president is absent.
According to the release, Erickson said Penn State plans to have a variety of strong candidates to fill the position.
Naming a new provost will require the guidance of a "search advisory committee chaired by a faculty member and with the assistance of a national search firm," according to the release.
