State College woman to be charged with DUI

A State College woman was involved in a one-person car crash Saturday after falling asleep behind the wheel around 1900 Shingletown Road, the State College Police Department said.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday after a witness observed the woman’s car driving off the road and into a ditch without reason. The woman said she fell asleep and woke up as the car was off the road and heading 300 ft into a ditch, police said.

State College Police ordered a blood test and said they suspected the woman of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police said it is a suspected DUI but no charges have been officially filed yet.

The woman complained of head and chest pain after the accident and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment.
