A Milesburg woman died Tuesday in a vehicle crash along Benner Pike when the SUV she was traveling in crashed into a telephone pole.
Susan Bartley, 43, who was in the passenger side of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 49-year-old man who was also in the vehicle was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for injuries he sustained in the accident. State College Police could not give any information as of Wednesday about the man's condition or the extent of his injuries.
The Jeep SUV was traveling along the 1000 block of Benner Pike heading toward State College when it struck the pole around 1:30 p.m. near the Tractor Supply Company. Police said the cause of the crash is unclear and the incident is currently under investigation.
The police, along with Alpha Fire Company firefighters and Centre LifeLink EMS all responded to the accident around the same time, according to police.
For about two hours after the crash, police closed the Benner Pike at Shiloh Road and rerouted northbound traffic to I-99 near the Bellefonte exit, according to police.
