GMF would benefit Ghana

The economic sustainability of Ghana is highly reliable on agriculture. It is crucial for Ghanaians to sustain their agricultural system. Unfortunately, climate change has a huge impact on Ghana.

From my geography course, I know that climate changes lead to altering temperature that can create floods, droughts and other natural disasters. The crops, including African ones, are very sensitive to the changes they are exposed to.

Precautionary steps have to be taken in order to avoid human disaster such as poverty and famine. One of the solutions is to introduce genetically modified food crops. Even though, genetically modified foods draw objections in people’s mind, it is the best way to prevent a failure of agricultural system of Ghana.

Ghanaians are opposed to GMF crops. Most of Ghanaian people do not have an appropriate knowledge about GMF crops. A proper education will be one of the best ways to erase the stereotypes of GMF.

I think if Americans volunteer to go to Ghana to give lecture and workshops on GMF it will be very helpful for Ghanaians to identify with the benefits of GMF crops.
