Sandusky, not Penn State Scandal

On the Collegian website, one right after the other, were two items.

The headline for one states: “Erickson to alumni: this is the ‘Sandusky Scandal.’ ” Immediately under it is the Collegian’s link: “Click here to view The Daily Collegian’s coverage of the Penn State Scandal.”

On this one point, I agree with President Erickson. We must stop referring to this mess as the Penn State scandal. It’s bad enough the outside world has named it that, but we should not.

We are not the scandal; by continuing to perpetuate the wording, we are reinforcing the outside world’s negative perception of every one of us.
