Attorney: Schultz was never told specifics of 2002 shower incident

Thomas J. Farrell, attorney for former Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Gary Schultz, said that Schultz “was not told that a 10-year-old boy was raped in the shower.”

Schultz was charged with perjury and failure to report sexual abuse after a grand jury report was released charging former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky with 40 counts on seven different charges of sexually abusing boys.

Farrell said in addition to Schultz being left in the dark about the incident, former Athletic Director Tim Curley, who is also charged with perjury and failure to report sexual abuse, and former head football coach Joe Paterno, also did not know.

If the abuse was reported in detail to any of the three men, Farrell said it would have been reported to the police, but since they were not told, it was never reported.

Farrell said he knows the evidence will show that Schultz is innocent.

“I'm confident [the evidence will] show that Mr. Schultz was not informed of the sort of allegations that the prosecution [will say he was],” Farrell said.

Farrell said that he believes in Schultz 100 percent and is ready to prove his innocence and completely exonerate him.
