VP Sims: 'a tremendous amount of pain and sense of loss'

Vice President for Student Affairs Damon Sims said the recent events at Penn State remind him of the pain and suffering after 9/11.

"There is a tremendous amount of pain and sense of loss with the university and community," Sims said.

The Board of Trustees will meet tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. and will not discuss the recent dismissal of former Penn State President Graham Spanier and former head football coach Joe Paterno, Sims said.

The students are anxious about where Penn State is headed in the future, Sims said.

Sims advised that students do not act in any way that is destructive or problematic to themselves or others.

Instead, Sims said they should act in a "loving" manner toward each other.

"I'm confident that with the passage of time healing will come and we'll be on the path toward becoming an even better university," Sims said.
