Penn State President Graham Spanier will either resign or be voted out by the Penn State Board of Trustees by the end of the day, according to The Express-Times of Easton, who talked to a person close to the board.
The board is expected to meet tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The newspaper didn't identify the person, who it said requested anonymity.
Citing the unidentified source, it reported that an interim president, most likely Rodney Erickson, the university's executive vice president and provost, would be appointed and a search for a permanent replacement would begin.
Senior editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education Brad Wolverton tweeted, "Penn State board source: No deal yet, but "it's over" for Spanier."
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
