A Penn State art student's paintings worth an estimated $4,000 were stolen sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday night in the Visual Arts Building, the Penn State Police Department said.
The student came back for the paintings to find that four of them were missing, police said.
The student was preparing for an art exhibition when she stored the paintings there, police said.
Police said they believe the building was entered by an unknown person who took the paintings sometime between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The Visual Arts Building neighbors the Palmer Museum of Art -- but police said the stolen items were not owned by the museum.
Police did not release the name of the student artist.
Police did not say if they have identified anyone in connection with the art that was stolen.
