Local man thrown from motorcycle

Chase Glickman, 27, of State College, was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for medical assistance after being thrown from his white 848 Ducati motorcycle after he was rear-ended at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday on Shingletown Road, the State College Police Department said.

Police said Glickman was making a right turn when a silver 2001 Toyota Tacoma struck the back of his motorcycle, throwing him into a guardrail.

Police said the motorcycle became "embedded" on the front grill of the truck and was pushed 200 feet.

The driver of the truck, Justin Carr, 23, of Pennsylvania Furnace, said he did not notice Glickman until it was too late, police said.

CATA buses return to regular routes

All CATA buses have returned to their normal routes because construction along College Avenue and North Atherton Street has been completed, according to catabus.com.

The routes will again stop at the University Club, 331 W. College Ave., and the bus depot, 152 N. Atherton St.

Borough Council to hold office hours

The State College Borough Council will hold its first office hours from 2 to 3 p.m. today in room 221B of the HUB-Robeson Center. State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham will be available to speak to students, Off-Campus Student Union (OCSU) President Bobby Ryan said.

The idea came after the University Park Undergraduate Association's Encampment, when student leaders said they didn't feel local lawmakers were readily available to students, Ryan said. He expects the Nuisance Gathering Ordinance and the Second Offense Ordinance to be popular topics for discussion. All students are encouraged to attend.
