Lions fall in Coca-Cola Classic title game

Kent State hit a home run and six doubles to fuel a 10-5 victory over the Penn State baseball team (6-10) in Sunday's championship game of the Coca-Cola Classic.

The Golden Flashes jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings. After Penn State cut the lead to 4-2, a four-run sixth inning gave Kent State a commanding 8-2 advantage. The Nittany Lions' comeback attempts were not enough as Kent State added two insurance runs that lead to the 10-5 final.

Lion catcher Ben Heath continued to show off his power with a two-run home run in the eighth.

Starting pitcher John Walter got the loss and dropped to 0-3 on the season.

The Lions travel to Pittsburgh Tuesday for a game with the Panthers before Friday's home opener with Hofstra.
