The basketball team will have four open roster spots heading into the offseason.
A press release by the athletic department confirmed the transfers of sophomore Chris Babb and freshman Bill Edwards. Both players wanted to be closer to home, according to the release.
In addition, junior Andrew Ott and senior Adam Highberger will graduate, which opens up two more spots. Ott transferred from Villanova after his freshman season, and Highberger was a walk-on senior.
"Andrew has struggled with a shoulder problem this season and is ready to pursue a career in business, and Adam, who's overcome a lot of injuries of his own, has been accepted to dental school at West Virginia and hopes to follow his father into that profession soon," coach Ed DeChellis said in the release. "We look forward to seeing them both excel in their chosen professions."
Ott played in 54 games for Penn State over the last two years. He started six games this year and averaged 3.1 points per game with two rebounds a game.
Highberger played in nine games this year, averaging 1.6 points per game.
It is not known where Babb and Edwards are considering transferring. Calls to the Babb residence have not been returned.
Media relations director Brian Siegrist said players and coaches will be made available Monday. DeChellis and Athletic Director Tim Curley have also not returned phone calls.
