Lions fall to Hofstra, end WNIT appearance

The Lady Lions' first postseason tournament since 2005 ended sooner than they expected.

Penn State had the home-court advantage but couldn't keep pace with Hofstra in a 76-68 loss. The It marks the end of the collegiate career of Tyra Grant, who cemented her place in the record books by finishing as the program's third-highest scorer.

The Lions (17-14, 8-10 Big Ten) were led by Grant, who scored a game-high 23 points, but Penn State struggled defensively. The Pride (20-13, 11-7 CAA) dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lions 44-33.

The Lions played the majority of the game without starting forward Julia Trogele, who went down with an apparent right shoulder injury.
