Women's gymnastics places last in quad-meet

The No. 18 Penn State women's gymnastics team came in fourth place in its quad-meet at Utah Friday night.

The Nittany Lions posted a 195.700, which was more than a full point lower than No. 9 Utah's (196.975), which game in first place. No. 8 Oregon State (196.650) and No. 21 Southern Illinois (196.025) placed second and third, respectively. The total was Penn State's second-best road score of the season but just the fifth-best overall score of 2010.

Penn State started off strong with a 49.075 in the floor exercise and a 49.100 on vault. However, the Lions failed to surpass 49.000 in each of the final two rotations. Penn State notched a 48.850 on the uneven parallel bars and a 48.675 on the balance beam.

The Lions were led by senior Brandi Personett, who posted a 39.300 in the all-around. Freshman Sharaya Musser added an all-around mark of 38.775.
