Personett among final six for AAI Award

Penn State women's gymnast Brandi Personett has been voted as one of the six finalists for the American Athletic, Inc. (AAI) Award.

The award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding gymnast as voted by the coaches.

"I was really excited when I heard, because a lot of girls were nominated for it," Personett said. "To be voted as one of the final six is a great honor."

The senior Personett ranks third in the country in the all-around with a 39.480 regional qualifying score. She also ranks second in the vault (9.935), eighth on beam (9.885) and fourth on the floor exercise (9.915).

She also has recorded a perfect 10.000 on vault twice this season

Personett has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week five times this season, including three weeks in a row in February.

The award will be presented at the NCAA Championships reception in April.
