Behind strong outing from Hill, Lions down Central Michigan

Jackie Hill struck out eight batters and held Central Michigan to just two hits on her way to helping Penn State secure a 3-1 victory.

While Hill handled the Chippewas' offense, Penn State (10-4) received offensive support from left fielder Ashley Griffith and first baseman Kailyn Johnson. Griffith and Johnson hit back-to-back doubles, which resulted in consecutive RBIs during the Lions' three-run third inning.

The Lions were limited to just six hits, but Hill's (5-2) dominance in the circle made the difference for Penn State. Hill surrendered a triple and walked two batters, but was able to pitch the entire game.

Penn State continues play at 6 p.m. Friday in the Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fl. against Florida Gulf Coast.
