Kemerer to be released by Oklahoma

Oklahoma wrestling head coach Jack Spates said Wednesday the Sooners are in the process of releasing Jake Kemerer from his National Letter of Intent.

Kemerer signed a commitment to wrestle at Oklahoma last spring before enrolling at Penn State. The Nittany Lion freshman and his family have been trying to get the release granted during the past months.

Spates said he doesn't know when the release could be official, but he expects the matter to be resolved in the coming days.

"It's a little different than just releasing someone from a scholarship," Spates said. "We put in for it, so it could be done now. I don't really now, but if it's not, it will be done within days."
