IFC implements incentive program

The Interfraternity Council's recently approved CORE program will provide incentives, including allowing Wednesday socials and paying for social event monitors, to fraternity chapters for promoting community service, according to an IFC press release.

At its meeting Tuesday night, the IFC unanimously approved the Commitment to Outreach and Responsible Education (CORE) program, which will reward chapters for promoting community service, philanthropic outreach initiatives and educational programming.

Chapters will earn points throughout the semester based on their events. Chapters will be broken down into three divisions based on their membership, the press release states.

Some incentives include funding for social event monitors, permitting Wednesday socials and discounting IFC dues, according to the press release.

The new program will kick off Feb. 28 with the Greek Sweep, a volunteer event to clean up the Highlands neighborhood.

IFC officials said the executive board plans to continue the Greek Sweep initiative, targeting large events such as evening football games, Halloween and Homecoming weekend.
