Paterno glasses sell at live auction

Joe Paterno's familiar old glasses will be on the move.

The 83-year-old coach's glasses were won by Kevin and Michelle Coppola for $9,000 at a live auction during the 18th Annual Connoisseur's Dinner and auction at the Nittany Lion Inn on Saturday night. The glasses feature a signature by Paterno on the left lens.

The Maryland couple, both Penn State graduates, previously placed the highest bid in the online auction, which ended this past Wednesday, and was represented by a proxy bidder at the live auction.

"When people think of JoePa, they think of his glasses, his rolled-up pant legs and his cleats," Michelle Coppola said. "We thought it was such an important thing to remember him."
