The Penn State softball team (4-3) defeated UC-Santa Barbara by a score of 3-1 Friday night at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego, Calif.
Jackie Hill pitched a complete game for the Nittany Lions and gave up just five hits, including one home run. The senior co-captain struck out nine and walked four.
At the plate, Penn State was led by catcher Danee Collett, who went 2-for-2 with a home run and all three of the Lions' RBIs.
Penn State will be back in action Saturday at 1:15 p.m. against Utah State, which is Penn State coach Robin Petrini's alma mater.
