Police identify robbery victim as student

The Ferguson Township Police Department confirmed a Penn State student was the man carjacked, robbed and beat over the head with a gun Friday by two still-unidentified actors just minutes off campus.

No identifying information could be released about the student because the investigation is ongoing, but police said he was neither hospitalized nor treated after sustaining multiple blows to the head from a handgun.

At about 9 p.m. Friday on Park Crest Lane off of Martin Street, the assailants approached a Penn State student who was in his car, police said.

The two men displayed a handgun, took control of the car and drove the man to a Boalsburg ATM, where the assailants forced him to withdraw cash from his account before beating him over the head with the handgun, police said.

At about 10 p.m. the night before, two unidentified men held up a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint outside The Pointe apartment complex, 501 Vairo Blvd., taking an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Patton Township Police Department.

Penn State Police said yesterday that they are working with both Ferguson and Patton Township Police to investigate the cases.

Police have not yet ruled out the possibility that the robberies could be related, Det. Josh Martin of the Ferguson Township Police Department said.

Currently, police are working to either connect the incidents or rule out any possible link, Martin said.

No arrests have been made in either case, Martin said.
