Armed robberies reported

Police say there's reason to believe two men who carjacked one man and beat him over the head with a gun on Friday night could be the same robbers who held up a pizza deliveryman the night before at The Pointe apartment complex.

During the Friday night incident, the two unidentified men threatened the man with a gun, seized control of his car, drove to Boalsburg and robbed him before beating him at about 9 p.m.

They made the hit on Park Crest Lane off of Martin Street -- about six minutes off campus, Ferguson Township Police Department said.

The night before, a pizza delivery driver had just made a stop at The Pointe apartment complex, 501 Vairo Blvd., when two unidentified men approached him, pushed him to the ground at gunpoint and robbed him, the Patton Township Police Department said.

One of two unidentified men threatened the pizza deliveryman with a revolver outside The Point, forcing him to the ground, police said.

The men then robbed him of the small amount of cash he was carrying but left him unharmed, police said.

No shots were fired in either incident, but authorities say the suspects are still

at large and remain unidentified.

Although they couldn't conclusively say the same men committed both robberies, they believe the incidents are related.

During the Friday night incident, the two men approached the man in his car and asked to use his phone, convincing him to open his door, police said.

The two men then showed the driver a handgun and forced him into the passenger seat.

There was a Penn State parking pass hanging in the victim's car, though police could not confirm or deny if the driver or either of the assailants was a Penn State student.

The carjackers then drove to Boalsburg and made the man take out cash from an ATM, police said. Striking the victim in the head multiple times with the handgun, the two men fled near West Drive and Boal Avenue, though authorities did not specify whether they took the car.

The amount of cash taken and the man's condition is still unknown. Police did not release a description of the vehicle.

Police will release more details in the next two days.
